These past weeks...
Which animals, fish and plants do you think are most endangered?
What do you think the growing list of endangered species says about humankind?
Which endangered species would you least like to see disappear?
Are there endangered species in your country?
Do you do anything to protect endangered species?
Forty percent of all organisms are endangered. What do you think about this?
Why are so many species becoming endangered?
Do you think the list of endangered species can ever get shorter?
Do you like actors from other countries?
Do you think humans will ever be an endangered species?
What should governments do to protect endangered species?
What do you think of the sale of products made from endangered species and how can we stop it?
Do you think endangered species can be bred in zoos or captive breeding programmes and then released into the wild?
Would you like to work for an agency that protects endangered species?
Do you know of any endangered species success stories?
How important is it to teach children about endangered species?
Which countries do you think are most guilty for endangering life?
Do you think honest politicians are an endangered species?
What question would you like to ask an endangered species?
The iberian lynx answers to some of these questions...
We are Imperial Eagle and we are working together with the monk seals. This is what we think...
1-We are worry of endangered species because we think them are necessary for life.Without them the humans couldn´t survive.
2-We think that the animals, fish and plants that are most endangered are:
-The panda bear
-The Iberian lynx.
-Some sharks.
-The tiger.
-Imperial eagle.
3-We think the growing list of endangered species says about humankind is that we don´t care about them because we pollute and we destroy their ecosystem. So the things that we have to do are:reduce, reuse, recycle and don´t pollute. If we continue doing this the number of endangered species will increase.
4-We would least like to dissapear are the animals that provide us food and raw material.
5-Yes,of course in our country there are some endangered species like:Iberian lynx

Digestive system II
New unit: the digestive system!
This is one of the pictures we will be using as a guide to learn more about the digestive system. You´ll be asked to have it drawn on your notebooks so, if you missed our lesson, here you have it:

The story of a heart-beat

Your opinion matters…

Do you remember we spoke about stem cells in class? If you do, you probably remember too, that I asked you to think about a certain question. This question was:
If stem cells are so useful and cool, why doesn’t everybody gets umbilical stem cells removed when he or she is born and kept cryogenized just in case?
So, now that you’ve thought about it. Use the commentaries to post your thoughts upon this burning issue.
Working with Berlin!

As you know, we have started our one-year-long project. That’s exciting! The first exciting bit about it, is that we are no longer just working with people from our class, but we are part of a MASSIVE group that’s composed by:
3 or 4 people from our class+3 or 4 people from the other class+ some German students
Now, working with tree friends can be difficult, but working with 7 friends, taking into account that some of them are not in the same classroom that I am, it’s a bit complicated, don’t you reckon? On top of that, we have to plan our strategies with even more students! And those students live in ANOTHER COUNTRY. How crazy!
This whole scheme, then, will be based on a series of activities in which, everybody, should be working together to achieve a common goal, to make the best European project ever! As we are working with biology topics, this year, the project focuses on environmental resources in each region and in Europe. The students should have a positive approach to the environmental problem through the knowledge of how precious our planet is. The groups will be researching about a forest, a national park, a river, an animal, a plant, etc, in Spain, in Germany and in different regions of Europe. They will have to look for the environmental values and the problem for that area or species. Alternatively they can research about an environmental problem (for example atom rubbish, recycling and so on). All this work is don through the e-twinning project website, an interactive site provided by the etwinning European site, for each project to be developed. The address to the site can be found as a link on the School's website (although the content is private, so, only the teachers involved in the project and the students working on it, are allowed to have a look at what we are doing).
So, we had to start from the beginning. The first thing was to introduce us to our team members. All your word documents including your pictures and your short introduction have been uploaded to the twin-space, the website we will be using as a base for all our communications with Germany. Now it’s time for our German partners to tell us something about themselves!
Welcome to our blog!
Hello everybody!
This blog has been created as an interactive tool between you, the amazing parents and students that are involved in this challenge of learning Biology as a CLIL subject, and us, the members of your Lasalle School.
We hope you will find it interesting or, at least, enjoyable.
To start with, I will tell you a little bit about the goals of this website:
-First: this blog will be used to post any relevant information regarding our amazing etwinning project. As most of you will know, this year, we are collaborating with a school in Germany, most specifically, in Berlin. Together, Berlin students, and we Spanish students will learn English, Spanish and how to care about our environment. We hope to give you more information in the nearby future, but we don’t want to spoil the surprises, hence, we will remain silence for a while, and start uncovering this mysterious news little by little.
-Second: important news or warnings about the class, will be posted here too, for you to know what to do or how to do it. Remember this blog is public, and all the really relevant information will be delivered as well through our internal messaging system (our Xestor).
-Third: From time to time, I will be posting interesting articles, videos or questions for you to have a debate or to write a commentary using the “posting commentaries” system. Be imaginative and use the Science you learn, don’t try to build up your arguments based on made up evidences or unproven ideas.
I think that’s more than enough for a first post. Have a lovely time learning biology this year and work hard to get the best results you can get. The limit is the sky!
